Magazine cover 3
4 04 2011I have made a few more tweaks to the magazine cover, these have been made because I feel that they will give the professional feel to the cover. So therefore I have changed the title so it look like it has been ‘submerged’ into the background, this was an effect that I used on my poster aswell. I have also changed the colour of some text to suit the house style again, this was changing some text from other colours to red and black. I have also changed the place of the bar code to fill empty space on the magazine that wasnt being used. This is my final magazine cover that I feel is simple but very effective.

Magazine cover 2
4 04 2011As I have already mentioned I didn’t like the house style of my previous magazine cover so in this lesson I made it my duty to change the style to something that I felt suitable with the feel of the film. So I have changed the colour scheme to red and black as these colours symbolise evil and death and these are themes used in my trailer. I have also added information to the right hand side of the changed as people read from right to left. This is another convention of a film magazine, usually the information on the right hand side is the main articles in the magazine. Another convention that was followed was a bar code which every magazine should have. I also added a free poster slogan to fill some space but I felt that this didn’t suit the style of the magazine.

Magazine cover
4 04 2011This is the first attempt of my poster, I have just started to look at the basic conventions of a magazine cover. I found this easy as last year I had to research into magazine cover conventions for my foundation portfolio, so therefore I have stuck to the conventions that I had learnt last year. I have followed the basic conventions of the world famous magazine ‘Empire’ this meaning therefore I have used the standard header that every empire magazine uses.
In this lesson I have started to test different images on the cover that I feel will suit the style of empire magazine. Once I found the image I wanted to use I used different effects on the picture that I felt would give a suitable feel for what I wanted, this feel was something that gave the image a weird, ‘cracky’ feel. I also tried different colours that I thought would grab the reader’s attention, I didn’t like the colours that I used in this picture because they didn’t suit the house style and therefore conveyed the wrong message about the film that I am promoting. I also tried a tag line at the top of the magazine as this is a common convention in film magazine, but once again I didn’t feel the colour was suitable.

Final Poster
18 03 2011This is my finished poster, as you can see I have used basic colour scheme that I feel will suit the film an example would be using red which will symbolise the colour of blood. I have used one image as from my research through polls, people seemed to feel like they prefered poster with one image that was simple and got the message across to the audience. I have followed the basic conventions of a poster from the same genre as I feel this I something that I feel gives the right impression every time. the poster didnt up much time of the process as I am confident with using Photoshop because I have used it in previous years. Overall I am happy with my poster as I feel that it will be very effective and gives a small clue to what the poster is about.

Time Management
14 02 2011During the last week I have started shooting for my trailer, I know this is late but I have had trouble in getting my actors free. Over the last week I have been shooting the bath scenes that are the basis of my trailer. In the next couple of days I am shooting the flash back scenes, these have been harder to do because I need a larger cast, once again giving the issue of the whole cast being available.
I have had a few minor set backs when trying to record the flash back scenes. The main one being the hanging scene which I have mentioned before, I have tried hanging manikin and also trying to make look like a character is being hung but none of the shots feel real. So therefore I have changed the idea to just a rope swinging, this shocks the audience still but also makes them think.
Over the next couple of days more and more information on shooting will come up, with pictures, clips and sounds. this is going to be the busiest week in the making of my film.
